RSS - or 'Really Simple Syndication' or 'Rich Site Summary' - is an alternative means of accessing the vast amount of information that now exists on the World Wide Web. Instead of the user browsing websites for information of interest, the information is sent directly to the user.
Bayleys also offers an RSS feed service. Our RSS feeds provide you with a time-saving way of viewing new property listings, as soon as they become available. So, instead of having to browse or search our website for new listings in the categories or locations you are interested in, you can subscribe to our RSS feed and we will send you the details, as soon as they are published.
How do I start using RSS feeds?
Step One :
The first is to have an 'RSS reader' (sometimes called an aggregator). This is a program which collects the raw XML news feeds from websites that are RSS-compatible and turns them into text and links that a user can browse at his or her leisure. There are many readers available for a variety of platforms (e.g. Windows, Mac, Linux). Some readers are web-based and do not require a software download. They allow you catch up with your RSS feeds from any computer (in much the same way as you would download e-mails off a web-based service like hotmail, for instance).
RSS newsreaders are also available as downloadable software applications, most of which are free. These downloadable programmes are dedicated desktop readers which allow you to store your RSS feeds on your main computer (in the same way as you download your e-mail using Microsoft Outlook, for example).
Some examples of RSS newsreaders include:
Once you've set up your newsreader, you will need to subscribe to receive our RSS feeds. To do that simply follow the instructions for your particular newsreader or click on the RSS feed icon within Bayleys Website to have the search URL added to your IE 7.0 toolbar.
Once you've completed those two steps, you will be set to receive alerts of new listings, as soon as they are published on Bayleys.co.nz. These will be sent to you automatically and you can view them whenever you are ready.
